Electro Mechanical Technician

GVD Corporation is a Cambridge-based company that provides ultra-thin polymer coatings based on a technology originally developed at MIT, that has applications in multiple industries ranging from microelectronics to manufacturing. We are seeking an Electro Mechanical Technician to support commercial and R&D operations at our Cambridge, MA facility.

Responsibilities

  • Become proficient with proprietary vacuum coating processes, including basic knowledge of the process and the equipment that is critical to its operation
  • Maintain hardware, equipment, and instrumentation on prescribed schedules.
  • Dismantle, reconfigure, and test R&D vacuum systems and components
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, and process systems such as Vacuum coating systems, Vacuum pumps, Industrial control systems, Pneumatic systems, etc.
  • Assist with, and in some cases lead assembly, installation, and setup of new coating tools and other industrial equipment. Responsibilities may include general mechanical assembly of vacuum chambers, frames, and other components, assembly and leak testing of gas distribution panels, wiring harness assembly, and general electrical wiring
  • Perform periodic inspections in lab and production areas to ensure compliance to safety policies
  • Purchase and organize tools and hardware required for maintenance, repair, and assembly projects

Requirements

  • Associate‚Äôs degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology is desired. Candidates with equivalent industry experience or trade certifications will also be considered.
  • A demonstrated desire to learn new skills and understand underlying principles
  • Basic electronic and mechanical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical, and electrical drawings and diagrams
  • Experience using a variety of power and hand tools
  • Experience working with vacuum technology and systems is highly desirable, but is not required if the candidate has relevant mechanical and electrical assembly and troubleshooting experience
  • AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks experience is a plus
