Technical Account Manager

GVD Corporation, headquartered in Cambridge, is an innovative, specialty coating company seeking a Technical Account Manager. This role is the primary liaison between GVD operations and our current / potential customers building understanding of our products and services to integrator and end user businesses. Candidates must have engineering or materials knowledge and must develop an understanding of the processes in which our products work.

This position interfaces with the customer’s Management, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and Operations departments to hone requests, answer inquiries, and manage production expectations and schedules.

  • Maintain and develop new relationships with key customer and industry contacts. Learn and evaluate customer operations to aid in and identify customer objectives, requirements, and preferences.
  • Follow up sales leads to prospective customers. Responsible for responding to inquiries about potential coating services.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining GVD products or services to existing and prospective customers
  • Routinely communicate with internal and external customers to maintain positive working relationships, pursue new business opportunities, and promote growth.
  • Maintain records of customer correspondence and be responsible for writing, distributing, or verbally/electronically communicating other pertinent communications to all interested departments
  • Manage all customer visits at company facilities.
  • Resolve customer service issues. Continuously communicates verbally, electronically and in written form with the order processing and shipping functions.
  • Engage with all aspects of GVD operations to ensure customer satisfaction and continued preference.
  • Recommend improved materials or processes to internal and external customers, showing how changes will lower costs or increase production
  • Prepare and submit monthly sales reports to GVD management


  • BS in Engineering (Chemical or Materials preferred)
  • 2-4 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 1-2 years Technical Sales or Applications Engineering experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Direct experience in materials development or vacuum technology (deposition, etching, sputtering) – both a plus
  • Able to work independently but not alone; collaboration is key
  • Excellent and effective persuasion, communication and interpersonal skills both for building relationships with clients and effectively communicating with other members of the GVD team
  • Self-confidence and ability to work independently to create and build a customer base
  • Team oriented to work with production as well as other engineers to create processes and timelines to meet internal and external customer requirements
  • Fluent in the MS Office suite of products
  • Will consider non-salesperson familiar with coating/polymer engineering that is looking for a new challenge
